Video Soundbites...

Dear All,

   

I am helping out at OSCAR, in the office, and one of my tasks here is to produce a couple of videos of some experienced mission workers which could benefit in different areas in their support, or be an encouragement or help for others.

Here in the OSCAR office, we are surrounded by Redcliffe students and lecturers who have varying wealths of experience, which is great to receive input from, however I would very much like to have some material from some OSCAR Users too. 

I would like to propose, if anyone would like to participate, to take a video of yourself, answering a few questions which will be available below. The video does not have to be done in a particular way, so be imaginative in it, such as in location, or background.

If your location, or setting is not the most beneficial to be broadcasted, please use your discretion to avoid any potential problems.

The rough idea on questions are as follows:

1. What's your support structure like? i.e. Does your organisation do much to help and resource you? Is your church fully behind you? Are there key individuals who make a big difference?
2. Are there any stories you have where the actions of your supporters made a big difference to your wellbeing (letters, prayer, concern, gifts, help etc.)
3. What's the biggest need you have at the moment, support-wise? i.e. Finance, prayer, practical help, people who really show concern for your work.
4. Have any of your support needs been met by OSCAR? How has OSCAR benefited or encouraged you in your situations?

 

You can be creative, and add topics, or points that are not these questions.

 

The videos will hopefully aim to highlight support issues to either the online community, or at events and conferences which OSCAR may participate in.

 

The material that you provide may be used in an OSCAR promotional video or some sort of awareness so your permission to utilise your videos would be greatly appreciated.

I can answer questions 1, 2 and 4. Would that help? Number 3 would go against a principle my wife and I have about sharing financial needs, so I would need to leave that one out.

Thank you so much for your reply! Do not worry about question 3. It is totally understandable and not a problem at all. If you want, you could note down a couple of prayer needs, or just skip that question out completely.

You can include anything you would like into the video, that you may want to express about Oscar, or anything encouraging in general that you may like to say.

 

Regarding getting the clip, I will shortly send you my email, which you can attach the video file to. If that does not work, I can suggest another method.

Hi Theo,

Having read the above I can probably only help with No.4! Allthough I'm experienced in short term mission having done several trips to southern Africa I haven't yet gone out long term. Not sure if this will be of help or not?

I think that would be totally helpful, and really beneficial, thanks! If you could comment at all on what aspects that you like about oscar, and what parts of oscar was particularly useful, helpful or enjoyable, which would relate to your future participation in mission. For example, you may have found the different forums to have have been a great source of interest but also beneficial for the future...

 

Please do add anything you would like into the video, and make it your own, including whatever you would like into it.
