Independent Mission Partners

Does anyone know what sort of percentage of mission partners are going into ministry without being members of a mission organisation?  I am meeting with the Leadership of my church on 10th March and this information would be very useful in terms of what I am talking to them about.  If you don't know the answer to this do you know someone who does know the answer?  Thanks.

  • Trust your special day has been one of blessing as you have given thanks for the pasty year. Kind regards, David

  • Hi Caroline.

I'm afraid that I do not have concrete statistics to offer, but my perception is that there has been an increase in people being 'sent' by their local church in recent years with no connection to a traditional sending agency. As churches grab hold of the mandate of the Great Commission, many are seeking independent partnerships with projects/churches in other countries.

My reflections come from leading a mission support service called iNet for the past five years. iNet is positioned to "support local churches in global mission". You can find out more at: inet-trust.org

I am now serving overseas; sent by my local church in partnership with iNet. The new Director is John Baxter-Brown.

    Hope that's of some help.

    James
