mission matters

Hi friends I have recently joined this site and have sent out some friend requests mainly to those in UK. I have a heart for S.E Asia and have worked for two years on the Thai/Burma border but find myself back In Uk after pretty devastating circumstances. This is a healing time but it is lonely walk! Was learning Burmese.I want to return in due course as I want to make mission my lifes work now. Interested to hear from anyone who can suggest any course that may further my mission and cultural experience and effectiveness.I want to go with a good supportive christian organisation. I really want to get to know friends who have a heart for mission, to stand beside the broken- and serving Jesus. I recently did a fantastic course with MCF 'Developing Health' run by Vicky Lavy who is on this site. It has given me the focus I need to update, Thanks Vicky if your reading this, 5** course. God Bless You Cindy Rich

  • Dear Cindy, The lord Jesus has given me a heart for China since several years ago. I'm not UK although have british blood somewhere, I believe, for my grandma was UK. I live in Colombia, South America and have been working as volunteer translator (English to Spanish Languages) for Antioch Missions www.amccsm.org, which has allowed to know China's problems and church situation. It would be nice to have prayer partnership, regarding the same region call. Besides, I've known also Lucy Graham is working among Thai people.

    Blessings!

    • Hi Daniel , good to meet you on this website. I hope all well with you and the family. My parents are missionaries to China near the NK border, I have another friend also there in another province. I was in China a few weeks ago visiting and teaching in the school. Its good to hear Lucy Graham is on this site, I willl ask her to be my friend if I can find her.My heart is for the Burmese displaced people on the Thai Burma border. Do you intend to work in China one day? Peace and Grace..
      • Hi Cindy, I'd love to. However, it's not easy to take such decisions from this part of the world, where we both (couple) have had our jobs and raised our living; I'm seeking the Lord's will in terms of the exact place or the job He want's us to perform, to raise our means of living. Despite our volunteer relation with AM, even when having talked this subject, I haven't found yet an umbrella institution  willing to "adopt" a non-UK or non-US rooted family. Somehow I feel what Joseph and Mary felt when coming to Bethlehem to bring Jesus into the world, and not having "a place" to stop with minimum terms....reason why I'm asking Our Lord to choose a suitable "barn" for us. I appreciate your kind prayer about this step to be taken.

I've been studying Mandarin for over three years, yet I feel that improving has to be done there, or at least near, because the speed to listen, think and talk has to be done there somewhere.  Blessings!

        • I trust you will find the direction and openings you need, it is hard to give up what you know but God will honour that and it is a battle. The enemy, satan will do everything to make us feel discouraged and hinder or stop us from going. My Mum is learning mandarin at 70, she has used Rosetta Stone and said that helped but it is expensive. My parents live in Tumen , right on the river that crosses into North Korea. We pray much for that country as we have prayer meetings for the persecuted church and also Columbia is much on our hearts.

Peace and Grace to you, Cindy
