  • Mike sections like Evangelism, literature, media, Social Concern, Community health, Education, AIDS, Micro Enterprises are segregated then it will be focused interaction. What do others think later it can even be country specific like Afganistan, India as there is no common communication interaction site for the mission community.
    • I agree, Stephen. We have plans to get more specific with the groups once we have the interest.
  • Feel free to give it a try.

    Social Networks and World Mission
Let's 'open the box' on ideas and suggestions for using this OSCARactive community to help world mission. Chip in with anything you might want to add…
  • Has anyone created an iGoogle Gadget for this forum? I would value having it on my home page.
  • So what's the purpose of OSCARactive? Basically:

To provide an interactive networking space for Christian cross-cultural mission workers and supporters from different organisations, countries and work functions; for them to:
    i. Discover and be introduced to each other
ii. Provide mutual support and encouragement
iii. Share professional knowledge and expertise
    iv. Explore opportunities for partnership

Have I missed anything? Does anyone else see potential that doesn't fall into one of these areas?
  • Tony, would love to see the OMF SNS...can you post a link?
  • We are also trying to share people's stories and experiences with others by doing video interviews (skype) with people in Asia.
  • OMF are also running a social network on Ning. We're hoping that we'll be able to:
o Connect people with those who are at the next stage of their mission journey.
o Develop a vibrant volunteer community (resource, train, connect - on and offline)
o Engage volunteers in projects (lending advice, skills, creating mobilisation/media tools)
o Follow up short-termers and enable them to share with other short and long-termers
o and ... develop in ways that we haven't seen yet
