Podcasts regarding ministry and technology

Hi everyone,

I've just got into listening to these podcasts and am finding them really helpful to keep up to date with "what's new and what's cool" on the internet, including church sites, Bible study software, web 2.0/social networking stuff.

The WELSTech Podcasts explore the use of technology to furtherthe spread of the gospel. Episodes are on various topics and released each Wednesday. It's co-hosted in a lively chatty/informal style (not too geeky) by Martin and Sallie and there are some real gems in these podcasts.

Check them out http://blogs.wels.net/welstech/

    • Hi Bryan,

Thanks raising this point and for the link to this great resource. One of the amazing attributes of the Internet is that it now has the capability to be able to cater for oral learners and reading/writing-preference learners. We can get our computers to read to us out loud with text to speech software but even this is no replacement to the God-given intonations of the human voice. I love the fact I can download podcasts onto my Ipod.

I'm guessing a main reason for the emphasis on text is because it is searchable by search engines? I would love to hear views of others in the group!

      Thanks again
    • Bryan, you've really got me thinking about the question of how accessible the Internet and indeed web evangelism is to oral cultures.

I've just been checking out this audio/visual tool with possibilities for oral digital story telling. (There was a link to one created by children cited in this week's Welstech podcast)

I'd be interested to know what you think? Maybe by creating one as a response and uploading it! :-) ... just an idea!

    • Hi Bryan,
Thanks so much for your audio reply, so lovely to hear!
Sorry Voicethread didn't live up to our expectations. :-(
I was listening to a couple of your story4all podcasts on the train this morning. They were really interesting. Great to hear about the UK training sessions and folk wanting to follow it up. Also great to hear the one about the partnership with Wycliffe and how the New Testament is being read orally and being recorded after translation, it's really exciting ... I love the whole 'contextualised' approach.
      God bless

  • Talking of which... I enjoyed hearing Tony Whittaker being interviewed the other week on this podcast regarding Internet Evangelism Day (which is this Sunday... April 25th 2010) http://blogs.wels.net/welstech/2010/04/07/126-internet-evangelism-d...
