Reentry

Heidi: Worthy is the LAMB!

Congratulations on the publishing of your new book, Home Keeps Moving. From your description, it seems to cover a much broader scope of missionary life for young people than just reentry. I trust it will be helpful to many youth who are expected to reenter their "home" country as an adult when they may have "lived" their—only as a visitor—for two or three years.

A Google search of TCK, in 0.08 seconds, brought up 6,750,000 sites! Now, I realize they are not all talking about Third Culture Kids, but their are many that are. Having said that, I agree that your fresh insights will no doubt add perspective to this very real area of missionary kid living and transition.

I would also mention that it was my privilege to write a book, The Reentry Team: Caring for Your Returning Missionaries. One of the chapters carries the stories of reentry from a TCK's perspective. Word has it that this has also been a very valuable resource on this subject.

God bless you on your continuing journey through life to your (our) eternal Kingdom home with the Lord.

  • Neal's book that he mentions here is available in the UK only through OSCAR. It's about the only book I've come across that aims to equip the church to look after those who are returning from overseas. See www.oscar.org.uk/thereentryteam.htm
  • Thanks so much Neal! It is great to finally have my book out there since I've been working on it for a long time now (off and on). As familiar as we all are with 'Third Culture Kids', it continues to amaze me how many people have yet to encounter the term. Many of which are actually TCKs themselves!

It is a privilege to be a part of the 'light bulb' moment and I hope many more people understand themselves better as a result of my book.

    God bless,
    Heidi
