Printer Choice

This may seem like a trivial question, but it's important to me!

I'm looking for a new printer, but it's hard to choose one from specs. There are a few criteria that we need that often don't appear in the specs.  Like most small office situations, it needs to be multi functional but also handle print runs for mailings etc.

We need:

  • All in one inkjet
  • Individual ink cartridges (with cheap compatibles available)
  • Document feeder in rear as well as front (i.e. can deal with envelopes without having to send them around a 180 deg roller)
  • Auto duplex printing
  • Borderless printing
  • Below £100

Any suggestions?

  • We very recently got a Canon Pixma MG5350, and it seems excellent.  I think it meets all of your requirements.  Here it is on Amazon:

    MG5350

    • P.S.: I've done some research into refilling cartridges for this printer, and it's certainly a good and viable option.

    • Thanks for this, Paul. It does look like a good candidate. I can't quite see the difference between this one and the MG5250 which is £30-£40 cheaper. Did you consider both?

    • The main difference is connectivity, I think.  The more expensive one is "AirPrint" compatible, which means it should be possible to print from mobile devices.  This website lists the differences:

For normal office use, you're right that there probably isn't much difference between the models.
